On Friday March 4th, as part 1 of a 3 part series, 451Research released an article regarding new government requirements for data center operators. Data center operators will be required to install DCIM (Data Center Infrastructure Management) software by 2018. The requirements are being driven by the U.S. Office of Management and Budget in order to increase energy efficiency in data centers nationwide. The new requirement mandates that data centers reach a PUE (Power Usage Effectiveness) of 1.5 or better by 2018. For many corporate, enterprise, or multi-tenant data center operators, this will mean adopting new energy-efficient cooling and power management systems, in order to achieve this new efficiency standard.
At ScaleMatrix, our revolutionary green data center was designed with efficiency in mind. We are fortunate to have been years ahead of this requirement since our opening in 2011. Our proprietary Dynamic Density Control (DDC) Platform leverages localized heat exchange to dramatically improve PUE. Our facilities operate at an industry leading PUE of 1.3 or better depending on load and environmental conditions. In 2016, ScaleMatrix commercialized the DDC platform and has begun deploying this platform for corporate, enterprise, and 3rd party data center operators across the globe. Clients utilizing our technology have access to next generation cabinet design, plus cutting edge DCIM platforms which provide enhanced energy efficiency and better overall facility management. Optimization of power and cooling resources based on real time data center load requirements is part of the core system. The Dynamic Density Control platform delivers the exact amount of resources needed, with better visibility and energy efficiency than ever before.
