No, physical resources in an on-premise data center are typically over provisioned to account for peak workloads. Leveraging the cloud allows you to consume the compute needed for your specific workload. In cases of surging compute demand, ScaleMatrix can provision a short-term compute requirement to account for the additional compute demand, meaning clients don’t have to pay for compute that sits idle over time.

No. We’ve engineered our data centers from the ground up to eliminate issues that traditional data centers have failed to address over the past several decades, specifically regarding power and cooling. ScaleMatrix developed fully enclosed Dynamic Density ControlTM cabinets with intelligently automated environment controls for efficient exhausting, cooling, security, and risk management. You’ll feel the difference walking through our data center floor; our facilities are clean, quiet, and a balmy 70 degrees fahrenheit, not noisy, hot, and uncomfortable like most data centers.
While raised floor facilities cool the entire center, regardless of the deployed cabinet quantity (the cost of this inefficient design is passed on to you, the client), the ScaleMatrix Dynamic Density ControlTM facility uses intelligent automation to allocate cooling resources based on the actual facility load requirements at any given moment. This efficiency allows ScaleMatrix to realize 30% – 40% savings in the operation of our HVAC systems, the result of which is extremely competitive market pricing for our products and services!
ScaleMatrix has a battery operated UPS that provides 10 minutes of power during blackouts. Generators mobilize 12 seconds after the UPS to provide continual power to our customers and hosted services.
Bi-weekly testing and quarterly load testing is utilized to ensure proper operations when these systems are called upon.
Yes, ScaleMatrix mains both primary and redundant generator capacity.
ScaleMatrix run-tests the generator bi-weekly. One week is a 2-minute start test, and the next is a 10-minute run test. We also have quarterly run-tests performed during maintenance by our vendors.
One generator will run for approximately 24 hours without refueling at a 75% load.
ScaleMatrix has contracts with alternate fuel suppliers to ensure a constant supply of fuel when needed.
ScaleMatrix authorized personnel have access to telecom rooms and cable closets.
Although the industry standard is between 5-7kW, the ScaleMatrix cabinets will support 78kW of electrical and cooling resources.
